MILK CONTROL

In the State of Hawaii, the Milk Control Section is granted authority through the Hawaii Revised Statues, Chapter 157. Our Milk Control Act became effective on June 7, 1967, with its purpose to stabilize the diary industry and ensure an adequate supply of milk for the people of Hawaii. Principal provisions of the Act are to regulate and supervise in a milk shed the production, transportation and setting minimum prices to be paid to milk producers. Administrative rules for this program are available online.

There are two milk sheds: Honolulu Milk Shed (Oahu County) established in 1967, Hawaii Milk Shed Hawaii County) established in 1971.

The section regulates and monitors quota and issues annual licenses to producers, producer-distributors and distributors of milk within Hawaii.
