Consumers of Waimanalo Irrigation System:

EFFECTIVE TODAY, OCTOBER 20, 2006, THE PHASE II - MANDATORY CONSERVATION RESTRICTIONS SHALL BE DOWNGRADED TO A 10 % VOLUNTARY WATER CONSERVATION REQUEST.

On September 25, 2006, the Waimanalo Irrigation System issued a “Phase II – Conservation” request for a mandatory water conservation, requiring a 20% cutback in usage due to the diminished rainfall in the Maunawili and Waimanalo areas.

As of this week, with your cooperation and the recent rains, the reservoir level has risen to 31.25 feet and we are happy to inform you that effective today, October 20, 2006, the “Phase II – Conservation” measure is rescinded and a “Voluntary 10%  Water Conservation” will be implemented.

The Department of Agriculture has established this website so you may track the progress of the irrigation system’s availability of irrigation water.  The link will provide a daily reservoir level, National Weather Service Information and staff’s comments on the condition of the Waimanalo Irrigation System.

NOTE:  Pursuant to §4-157-12, Discontinuance of service, water service may be refused or discontinued by the department if the water bill has not been paid within thirty days after the mailing or presentation thereof to the consumer.  However, acreage assessments shall continue in spite of the discontinuance of service.

Upon notification by the Waimanalo Irrigation System, the following restrictions will be implemented in phases as the reservoir levels approach pre-determined levels.  However, implementation of a specific conservation phase is approximate and may be put into effect based on factors such as a significant increase in system-wide consumption or upcoming weather conditions.

  • Distribution days will be Sundays to Saturdays – 24 hours a day

  • Voluntary reduction of water consumption by 10% is requested.
